TRYING THESE OPERATING SYSTEMS

Ultimate Edition 2.8

Sabayon

Was just having a problem with cairo-dock

Compiz and Cairo Dock - says no animations available and only option is to close it down !

at the moment - plugin's needed loading and also added the themes too ..

SUSE 11.3

its still a bit dated and uses the old GRUB 1,5

Graphics - not working for Nvidia as I want yet

Sound - (muted why are they doing this)

Crashed Audacity

Not a lot going for it for me yet and my System

* Orca works though - reads text back to you ,,,,,, once I learn how to use it properly

Blender does not work as the graphics is not set yet

What can I say - its got the correct screen size 1440 x 900 ........ refresh rate 60 hz

But no compiz or 3D graphics yet

linux-6lp0:/home/keith # xrandr

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1440 x 900, maximum 8192 x 8192

LVDS-1 connected 1440x900+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 367mm x 229mm

1440x900 60.0*+

1152x864 60.0

1024x768 59.9

800x600 59.9

640x480 59.4

720x400 59.6

640x400 60.0

640x350 59.8

DVI-D-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

Ok so the One Click install - this worked for me

So now Blender runs ..... excellent ...... (tick)

Streamtuner next .....

I like some background music while I work ........... quality of life ...... a plus with the right music ..........

ok using streamtuner and amarok together ,,,,, in preferences as the MP3 plaver enter amarok

OK ..... one more thing to make it complete ...... Cairo-Dock ......... so the hard bit

Ok I am interested in the Maverick - Realtime Kernel now ..... but the problems I have ....

( one more image gone )

1 ....... Low resolution graphics ......... * it should be using the exact video driver as below ..... but its not setting it up .........

2 ......

Latest Operating System that I am Trying out ........ is the Ultimate Edition - Ubuntu 10.10 - Maverick - Alpha

This is just a test OS and in Alpha at moment so anything you see here may not be as easy to reproduce as you would like ...... from an initial install

My initial problem was No Sound .... but with the Help From UBUNTU FORUMS ........ this is now SOLVED ...........

so Everything I can Find out about the Sound Problems - Solved now have Stereo Sound

also Graphics and a USB drive getting hot ..... these last 2 are now sorted ...........

The sound was difficult ......... but it did get solved ....... as everything does ....... with patience and a little time and some very good help

from UBUNTU FORUMS

( I try to solve one problem at a time ..... and I will give it my full time )

OCD and Aspergers are a great help to some people .....

Not that I have either ;)

Ok I sorted the graphics out

By loading the Nvidia 185 drivers .......... as the current will not work on the Acer Aspire 7730 ZG

The Thermal reading is good too back to normal ..... 55^ to 56^

This is what systems I can currently run ..... but often I just plug in the USB I want .... quickly do a update-grub .......

And all the relative Linux versions appear in the menu for that particular drive ......... Linux is just so good .... and getting easier by the day .......

root@keith-laptop:/home/keith# update-grub
