Using the DESSTINEE Model
Summary of the Model Files
The DESSTINEE model is split into four modules, each as a separate file:
Energy Transfer Reference Case.xlsb
Electricity Profile Validation for 2010.xlsb
Top & Tail - Renewable Supply Profiles.xlsb
Generation and Transmission Model.xlsb
The modules are held in Microsoft Excel binary files, compatible with Excel 2007 and beyond. We have tested the model on Excel 2007 and 2010 for Windows 32 and 64, but cannot guarantee perfect compatibility with other versions at this stage.
DESSTINEE Module 1 - Annual Projections.xlsb
Annual projections and scenarios to 2050
Daily electricity profiles and building mechanism
Overall headline results (carbon emissions, fuel shares, etc.)
DESSTINEE Module 2 - Demand Profiles.xlsb
Contains measured electricity consumption data for major countries
Provides a selection of metrics to compare against outputs from the ETRC model
DESSTINEE Module 3 - Electricity Supply.xlsb
Contains the multi-region merit order stack model for simulating least-cost generation and transmission
Reads in data from module 2 and the renewable supply workbooks
DESSTINEE Renewable Supply Profiles.xlsb
Time-series of output from renewable sources in each country, which are derived from more complex models (not included)
In addition, we provide a country snapshot visual diagram file, which is compatible with the e!Sankey Pro software from IFU Hamburg. Note, this is commercial software requiring a licence, which you must purchase yourself!
Country Snapshot.sankey
Gives a visual representation of the energy flows for a particular country
Reads data directly from DESSTINEE Module 1, to give live updating
