Scenarios
Version History
Test version: VASSAL 3.4.3 and greater, and VSQL 4.3.1
Stable version : VASSAL 3.2.17 and VSQL 4.2.2 (Official Version)
Vassal 3.4.x + has Java, no need for a separate install.
Test "Allow opponent to remove my concealments", both players must check before placing '?' counter.
Compatibility of vlog and vsav
We expect vlog and vsav file are compatible between release VSQL version 2.2.2 and test version VSQL 4.3.1.
I exchanged several logs between versions without error.
Software installation
There are two ways to setup your computer for testing the new VSQL module.
Setup One - Banzai!
Full charge and update to the current version of VASSAL and VSQL.
Expected behavior is VSQL module works and logs are compatible between 4.2 and 4.3.
Upside one version is easier to play and manage than two. No updating after finalized.
Downside: current log files may not work and log files in 4.3.0 may not be compatible with prior versions.
Upgrade to the current version of VASSAL by downloading and installing.
Create a separate folder and download VSQL-v430.vmod to it.
VASSAL identifies the game by file name, so it sees VSQL-v430.vmod as a separate game from VSQL.vmod (stable version).
It is expected this has a different Main Room on the VASSAL server.
Setup Two - The Montgomery
Avert risk by running two versions of VASSAL and VSQL, the test and the stable version.
Upside: you have the stable prior version to play existing games while you test.
Downside: You need to manage installing and playing with two versions.
Install two versions of VASSAL
Download and install VASSAL.
"Custom Install", not standard
"To Keep" has VASSAL versions, "To Remove" is empty.
Install
Windows start menu now has two VASSAL programs, the new 3.4 and your prior version.
You can drag a shortcut onto the desktop and relabel it VASSAL 3.4.
VSQL Module
Download the module to a new folder.
Two folders for VSQL modules
Start VASSAL 3.4.x
File\open module
Navigate to VSQL-v430.vmod and click.
Start VSQL
Set preferences (don't forget password)
