The Historical Representation of the Scenarios
This timeline shows the year in which the scenarios take place. Its what one would expect to see, SQL and COI cover the period of the eastern and western ETO while COD covers the early war and GIA concentrates on the period involving the United States. The earliest scenario occurs in July of 1936 covering the Spanish Civil War (COD) and the latest in May of 1970 covers the Southeast Asian conflict (GIA.) The COD scenarios taking place in ‘44 are mostly from the Roque series and the GIA scenarios pre’42 are mostly John Cramsie’s series based on The Rommel Papers.
The scenarios cover the major theaters of the war although there is a heavy concentration in the European Theatre of Operations. The Pacific Theater of Operations was covered by Blood and Sand, a third party publication by Bill Wilder. Cross of Iron’s ETO-W are from “The Mortain Campaign” by Pete Pollard which uses selected GIA rules and counters. One can play with COI rules knowledge and a few extra bocage rules. There is also minor coverage of the Spanish Civil War, The Korean War and Southeast Asia.
Early, mid and late war periods are well covered with 1944 receiving much attention from D-Day and the Bulge (see timeline below.)
