Dear Squad Leader Player:
The first quarter of 2015 added five new players and forty-three new games to the Tournament, a thirty-four percent increase over the prior quarter. No doubt, a colder than normal east coast contributed as players relieved cabin fever with game play. In my opinion, Face-to-Face play on VSQL is trending up as players renew their interest and fill the once empty Main Room. Twenty-five players showed up this month, pairing off into thirty or so game sessions. I even caught a match of Hill 621 this Saturday.

Rules and Tools
Think Cross of Iron, Crescendo of Doom and GI Anvil of Victory have too many calculations? Think rules consolidation is an issue? Try this spreadsheet for some help. An unpolished, 2 year labor of love in an Excel workbook. See ‘COD+ Workbook’ under ‘Rules and Tools’ in the Files page here. Please leave feedback and report bugs here.
After Action Report
‘Action at Balberkamp’ is a Crescendo of Doom scenario taking place in 1940 Norway. The Germans are going to Trondheim and the Norwegians and British try to stop them. Five boards and only 30 squads per side leaves plenty of room for manoeuvre. Watch the players dice out arrival of reinforcements. This AAR has plenty of s lines to help you follow the action. See here.
The last roll of the dice...
John Hill, the designer of Squad Leader, passed away in January. There is little more I can add to that already said. I’ve had a lot of fun with Squad Leader over the years and made some pretty great friends. I can’t say that about my Xbox. Thank you so much John.
Andrew C was a WBC regular for longer than I remember. We had our game this year and promised to resume hostilities next. He was a big ‘Breakout: Normandy’ player and I’ll keep my promise with a scenario set during it’s time-frame, June 6 ‘44 to June 12 ‘44.
Thanks,
Scott ‘2IFT +3’ B
