Welcome the Squad Leader Ladder
The Ladder is a competitive ongoing platform that encourages play of Squad Leader and it’s gamettes over the internet. The scoring system is based on the Elo rating system with the difference between the player’s ratings determining the points won or lost; higher rated players earn less and lower rated player earn more on victory. This is a self-correcting rating system that reflects the true playing strength of participants.
Long-time players may recall the Ladder of the nineties and early 2000s on which this is strongly based. I meet a lot of good players and friends there and really learned the game participating in Alan Yngve’s Advance Phase tournaments and Ladder. Hopefully, this Ladder will serve the community as a place to meet players, learn the game and enjoy some friendly competition.
Information on the original Internet Squad Leader Ladder that this ladder will closely follow is here.
The scoring is reported monthly but you can start playing now. Players will receive monthly reports on completed games, player rankings and milestones, see the proforma of June here, as redacted to respect player’s privacy and less the score.
So if you have the mettle to follow in Kruger’s footsteps then you should participate in the Ladder now, its up and running.
Farewell to the 2012 Squad Leader Tournament
I would like to thank everyone for their support and participation in the 2012 Squad Leader Tournament. The introduction of the Ladder allows us to sunset the tournament for a system better suited to continued casual play.
The top three players may designate a credible Veteran’s charity to which SQLT will make a donation.
