This is BioTechnology project report on "pretreatment of paddy straw for enhanced saccharification". The present study deals with enhanced saccharification of paddy straw by optimizing various physical and chemical pretreatments such as steam explosion, temperature, and treatment with hydrogen chloride, a highly electronegative acid. The amount of breakdown of lignin, hemicellulose & cellulose was determined using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
