Problem sets are designed to help student develop analytical skills and critical thinking. There will be four problem sets in total with each being assigned every two to three weeks. Students can discuss questions but must submit independent solutions, either in handwritten or print-out copies. Violation of the academic honesty code will result in a zero grade and the issue being reported to the dean. Assignment deadlines are firm and late submission will not be accepted except for a medical emergence with valid documents.

Quizzes and Participation
Please arrive on time and refrain from texting or browsing the Internet during the lecture. There will be in-class quizzes (multiple choice questions) throughout the semester. Always log in with registered ID. The highest ten quizzes will count for credit. If students log in as a guest, no credit will be earned. Students with a valid excuse and document are eligible to make up the missing quizzes with the TA within the same week when the quiz is scheduled in class. Students are strongly encouraged to ask questions and open up discussions during the lecture.
Poll Everywhere Registration
Poll Everywhere is a real time online platform designed for conference and classroom participation. As part of students’ active learning requirement, there are short quizzes throughout the semester and the highest ten will be taken for credit. They are multiple-choice questions that test basic concepts, models, and calculations.
Poll Everywhere will provide immediate feedback from students on teaching and learning outcomes. It will also be used for attendance check—students must register with an actual name, email, and BU number. Please note your BU number is not the number on your BU student card. Your BU number can be found by clicking on "What's My B-Number?" under the Home tab on BU brain.
As discussed in our first lecture meeting, to split the cost, please direct a payment of $1.5 to register with your recitation TAs as soon as possible. The deadline is Feb 10. Otherwise, you will pay the full amount $13.99. Students can find the company's pricing plans via https://www.polleverywhere.com/plans/higher-ed
Once all students complete the payment, a registration link will be shared and students can register with actual name, email, and BU number. Registration Link https://PollEv.com/bchen117/register
