Lifter Requirements
Must be a member of USAW
Resident of Ohio (all other USAW lifters can lift in the open portion if there is an open grouping)
Must wear a singlet in accordance with USAW rules and lifters under 18 must follow USAW guidelines.
The Ohio WSO equipment consists of:
IWF Certified Rogue competition set:
20 kg bar
15 kg bar
10 kg Junior bar (non certified)
2.5 kg collars
2.5 kg training plates (non certified)
5 kg training plates (non certified)
2 sets 25kg discs
1 set 20 discs
1 set 15 kg discs
1 set 10 kg discs
1 set 1 kg rule set: 5 kg, 2.5 kg, 2 kg, 1.5 kg, 1 kg, 0.5 kg (2 each)
Weigh in scale –calibrated yearly
Timing system with Referee lights ** not working for referee decision as of 2019 meet
Needed equipment besides the Ohio equipment:
10 kg bars for younger lifters –competition platform and warm up area
15 kg bars for 13 and under lifters and women –warm up area
20 kg bars for men 14 and older –warm up area
2.5kg and 5 kg large discs for warm up area
Warm up platforms with bars and weights
Competition platform –regulation size (4 meters by 4 meters –can be larger and taped off)
Chalk
Bleach and rags for cleaning the bar in case of blood contamination
Broom to sweep the platform when needed
Extension cords for electric timing system / referee lights.
Scoring system:
Either paper cards printed by Meet Host
Electronic decided by Meet Host (WSO can help provide but will be Next Lifter)
The results afterwards will need to be entered into BARS by host or WSO.
Volunteers needed PER SESSION (some sort of compensation is recommended –food etc.):
Announcer (Announce only or run cards as well)
Weigh in person (male and female to weigh in the same gender)
Scorekeeper / Time keeper (fill in electronic scoring and run the clock)
3 referees
2-3 loaders
Marshall –to take changes (Optional) or changes can be made at the scoring table
Running the Competition
The competition shall be run by weight class and ran from lightest to heaviest.
Classes can be combined but not mixed up.
All lifters in the same weight class shall lift at the same time so that the lifter knows who they are lifting against.
All USAW/IWF competition rules apply for the flow of the meet including whether to have introductions and how much time for break between snatch and CJ.
Team Scoring:
Team must be a valid current USAW club
Team members for the team title have to be registered to the club they are representing (USAW club change rules apply)
Men’s team: Up to 10 men –no more than 2 team members in one weight class will count for points
Women’s team: up to 10 women -no more than 2 team members in one weight class will count for points
Team points decided by lifter’s total ranked in the Senior Division
-Master, Junior, Youth will be ranked in Senior Division for points
Points: like Nationals, 1st = 28, 2nd = 25, 3rd = 23, 4th = 22, 5th = 21,6th and higher 0
Audiovisual:
There should be a microphone and speaker system for the announcing of the competition.
Scoring or Results of the competition with a projector or big screen TVs can be used but are not required.
Awards provided by the Ohio WSO (cost provided by meet director):
Individual awards
-Top three in each weight class (Total medal only) for Senior, Master, Junior and Youth
Awards provided by the meet director:
Men’s Team award
Women’s Team award
Best Female award based on Sinclair
Best Male award based on Sinclair
Other Best lifters can be awarded but not required (Best Master, Best Junior etc…)
Open (Non-Ohio lifters) awards may be awarded any way the meet director sees fit
Ohio WSO awards presented at the State Meet provided by the Ohio WSO President:
Lifter of the year for the previous calendar year
Coach of the year for the previous calendar year
Master lifter of the year for the previous calendar year
-all awards are gender neutral and done on a point system for weightlifting accomplishments
Ohio Hall of Fame Awards (if awarded)
Other provisions -meet director:
Signing up of lifters will be done through USAW BARS
8% of all Entries shall be donated to the WSO
Volunteers should be provided with some sort of thanks (coffee, breakfast, lunch)
Having good competent loaders will provide an efficiently run meet, it is recommended to train loaders beforehand and compensate loaders after (gift cards, $ etc.)
Other Considerations
Historically the meet has accommodated over 150 lifters. Meet director should be prepared for a 2-3 day meet and consideration for two platforms running concurrently should be given.
