An applicant should ensure the following points before making application for passport:
Applicant must have atleast 2 proof of address reflecting stay for more than 1 year. eg. If you are applying for new passport in MAY,2010 then your proof of address must reflect your date of stay from April,2009 at the same address.
Name of applicant, father's name, mother's name, address should be same in terms of spellings and surname in the application form to avoid any objections later on.
Photographs for application must be recent and having light or white background colour.
Applicants should carry their original documents while submitting their application forms as the original documents are checked at the venue and return back to the applicant at the same time. Most of people need to go back just because of this minor mistake.
It is advised to the applicants that they should furnish only the correct details in their application form. Failing of the same would result in penalty to the applicant.
For proof of date of birth, applicants born before 1989, can submit self attested photocopy of matriculation certificate or school leaving certificate. While applicants who born on or after 1989, should submit only birth certificate issued by concerned municipal corporation. However, illiterate applicants born before 1989 can submit affidavit attested by NOTARY.
