2009 Eastern Ontario Adventure

The troop took a ten day trip. On the way to Charleston Lake we stopped at the Air Force Museum. There was a poignant moment when we were about to leave as we stood at the alert as a fallen soldier's funeral car passed by. We then went through Prince Edward County to take the ferry crossing on the leg to Kingston. The troop camped several days at Charleston Lake, stomping grounds of the Black Rat Snake. While at Charleston Lake we took out trips to Upper Canada Village, Thousand Islands Boat Cruise and, Fort Henry. We had a day canoeing and a day hiking at the Park. The Troop then moved to Scouter Rob’s family cottage on Otter Lake, near Smiths Falls where everyone enjoyed swimming, canoeing and sailboards. From there we took an out trip to Saunders Farm Park to enjoy the mazes and an overnight trip to Ottawa to visit the Nations Capital. We began by attending the National War Museum, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and a Cruise on the Rideau Canal. At day's end we had lodgings at Carleton University residences. The following day took a tour of Parliament Hill and Downtown Ottawa, and had front row VIP seats to see the Changing of the Guard. On the return trip the Troop visited the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough
