Sleeping arrangements:
Main floor bedroom: 1 queen bed
Closed loft bedroom: 1 queen bed and twin trundle bed
Lower level bedroom: 1 queen bed
Lower level private convertible space: 1 queen futon
Additional semi-private sleeping space in lower level den with sectional sofa -- there is a lime green twin inflatable mattress on the back shelf in the garage
Heat: The thermostat is next to the basement stairs. If the basement is too cold , turn the fan to 'on' and make sure all the vents are open, which will circulate the warm air. If the basement is still too cold, close the upstairs vents. It is a Nest thermostat I'm still trying to figure out so let me know if you can't get it to work for you. Note it doesn't have a microphone so it can't hear you.
Tap Water: When you arrive, turn on water and hot water heater (basement laundry room, green handle near floor and switch nearest hot water tank, respectively) if not on already.
Drinking Water: Tap water is from city system and is potable. However to us it tastes too much like chlorine so we use spring water for drinking. There is a spring in the development from which we fill the jugs in the basement that we use to fill the dispenser in the fridge. Help yourself. Ask me for instructions if you want to fill jugs from the spring but doing feel any obligation to refill them.
Hot Tub: Takes 4-5 hours to heat up from 85 where I usually leave it . Make sure to unfasten all four straps. Suggest you shock it with 2T MPS non-chlorine shock and run it for 15 minutes before you get in and every few uses, but it won't be the end of the world if you don't. Also, please rinse off first before you get in if you haven't bathed recently or have applied sun or body lotion.
Trash: Pickup is Tues AM. Fine to leave at bottom of hill for a couple days as long as bungeed. There is also a dumpster/trash cans in the rest area right outside Friendsville heading east on I-68. Leave excess trash in garage, and if it is perishable leave it in the lidded trash bin. Do not leave trash outside unless you are looking to attract deer and bears.

Video: We have a projector set up in the den. A/V stuff might need to be plugged in, plugs are behind the couch. A/V receiver and Roku are under couch near desk. If A/V receiver isn't already on, you should be able to just turn it on receiver and Roku will come on. There is also an HMDI cable to plug a laptop into receiver. Be careful to not unplug the projector until it has a chance to cool down (there will be a countdown on the screen). Make sure everything is unplugged before you leave.
Grill: There should (might) be a spare propane tank in the garage. If needed you can buy more propane until 10pm at night at the gas stations at both the Hazelton and Friendsville highway exits. Open the propane tank valve slowly and if you can't get it working, here are some troubleshooting tips:
Toys and Games: Lots in the basement hall closet and in closet in loft bedroom
Washer and Dryer: In basement
Sheets and Blankets: In basement bedroom closet, basement hall closet, and loft bedroom closet
Cleaning Supplies: Mops, etc. in downstairs bathroom closet. Vacuum in loft closet. Dustbuster in storage bench near woodstove. Some other supplies in basement by dryer. I can arrange for cleaners for ~$100 if you don't want to leave it in basically the same condition.
Fuse Box: In basement bedroom behind mirror.
Wood Stove: The handle below the door controls how much airflow the stove gets. Pull it all the way out when lighting it and push it partially back in once you have a fire going. It is good if not essential to clean out the ashes periodically. Ash bucket should stay outside. Help yourself to firewood on the side of the garage and to firestarter stuff that is in the kitchen bench next to the wood stove
Garage: Key is by kitchen door on hooks. (or under rock near side garage door) Open the door on the side. Main door is tricky. Basically push down on the wire cable on the inside and turn handle. Easiest to just leave garage door locked, and open it from the inside.
Snow: There is a snowblower and shovel in the garage. Fuel tank is typically left empty and hopefully one of the fuel canisters in the garage has fuel. The roads to Friendsville are generally plowed earlier and more often than the roads to Hazelton. There are a couple pairs of snowshoes and some sleds in the garage.
Bikes, Kayaks, SUPs: There are two comfort bikes, a trail-a-bike, a bike trailer, and a couple kids bikes in the garage you are welcome to us. There are also inflatable kayaks, a sit on top kayaks, SUPs and related gear that you are welcome to use but ask first for instructions. Don't use the mountain bike or the e-bike. There is a bike rack that will fit the trailer hitch of a pickup/SUV (and there is an adapter for the smaller hitch type around somewhere, maybe in the basement laundry area shelves)
Medical: Most accessible and largest hospital is Morgantown General a few miles off of exit 7 (30 min). There are also hospitals in Oakland (35 min), Kingwood (30 min) and Cumberland (40 min). There is a NP medical office and pharmacy in Friendsville but hours are limited so call first.
Garbage: Pickup is Tuesday AM. Ok to leave garbage can by the road whenever you leave as long as the lid is bungeed tightly and all garbage is bagged.
Heat: Do nothing
Water: Turn off water and hot water heater
Clean: Please leave it about the way you found it or for ~$20 I can have it professionally cleaned.
Snowblower: If you used the snowblower, either let it run until fuel runs out or add some fuel stabilizer (in garage) to gas tank so gas doesn't go bad
Grill: Make sure cover is on and propane tank is off
Locks: All windows and doors (including garage) need to be locked. Leave key in lockbox and others on hooks
Lights: All off, both inside and out
Wood Stove: If there is excessive ash, clean it out of stove, including ash compartment on bottom of stove (latches on side). Doesn't have to be spotless, just try to get the majority. There is an ash bucket somewhere around. Push knob all the way in to closed
A/V system: Do nothing
Hot tub: Set to 85. Add two tablespoons of MPS shock and fill the floater with bromine tabs (if too complicated, don't worry about it). If you are an expert, feel free to balance pH and alkalinity. Make sure all four straps of cover are fastened
Sheets: If not having cleaned, strip the beds, wash, and okay to leave in dryer running
Dishwasher: Since water needs to be turned off, can't be left running.
