Child Care

It has been a long-ago norm that the dad worked and supported the family while the wife stayed home to raise the kids. That model is outdated in many ways. Mom and Dad are not terms that define a family any longer. More import the majority of the populace cannot live at the middle-class standard on one income. The Washington state constitution (Article 9) states “…It is the paramount duty of the state to make ample provision for the education of all Children….” of the state. The argument can be made there is a lot of learning going on from infancy to pre-kindergarten. Our paradigm needs change.

There is a good working model with New Mexico that can be a starting point for Washington. Citizens that are not in financial need should not need childcare assistance.
