I liked reading Asterix because, he is really cool, funny, and interesting.

Ancient Rome

Legioneer

Legionary is kind of like a Roman Army. It was made up of powerful foot soldiers called Legionaries. They used a Javelin as a weapon to throw and kill their enemies. 150,000 Legionaries were in the Roman Army


Gladiator

Gladiators were slaves. They had to practice to be Gladiators in a special school. They trained to fight with swords, shields, tridents, nets. Famous Gladiators were Murmillo (fish man) and Retiarius (net man). They were named after their costumes and weapons. Gladiators fought against each other. The fought in the Colosseum.


Romulus and Remus

This is a famous Roman story. The God Mars had a twin boys named Romulus and Remus. The were abandoned on the banks of the river Tiber. A wolf found the babies nursed them like a mother with her own milk. Later, a kind Shepherd took them home to his wife and raised the boys his sons. Romulus killed Remus. Legend has it that Romulus went on to found the city of Rome and named it for himself.
