The Siskiyou County Office of Education's School-Based Mental Health and Wellness Program connects the community by providing this site to serve as a center point for local events, activities, and other fun resources that foster mental health and wellness for school communities.
Parents and educators act as role models in children's social and emotional learning (SEL). By educating themselves in these practices, and leading by example, they foster the growth of tomorrow's leaders. With the help of the SBMHW team, a specific plan can be tailored for each student's particular needs. This will empower students with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to grow into the best version of themselves.
Regardless if your student(s) receives collaborative services through your school with the SBMHW Program, the benefits of SEL will have a stronger impact if practiced in the classroom, and outside of school. As you explore these various resources, reflect on the core themes of goal setting, self-awareness, optimism, responsibility, relationship skills, and social awareness. Consider how you can implement these core competencies into the daily life of your student.
