Counseling

Individual Counseling Sessions

As your school counselor, you can meet with me anytime for an individual counseling session. I use a form of counseling called Solution Focused Brief Therapy, where our sessions are kept short and solution-oriented. If I'm unable to help you with something, I can connect you to other resources or refer you to a mental health therapist to better assist you with more in-depth counseling. We can talk about anything, including, but not limited to:

  • Struggling with your classes

  • Relationship Issues (family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.)

  • Mental Health Conditions (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders, etc.)

  • Suicidal Ideation and/or Attempted Suicide

  • Abuse or Assault (Physical, Verbal, Sexual, Domestic, etc.)

  • Homelessness

  • Substance Abuse and/or Addiction

  • Emotional Regulation & Coping Strategies (how to cope with stress, anxiety, anger, sadness, etc.)

  • Anything else that you feel is affecting your mental health or academics

Confidentiality and Privacy

When you meet with the school counselor, you are entitled to both privacy and confidentiality. You can expect to meet Ms. Weinzetl in her office where there is privacy. When it comes to confidentiality, everything that you say will be kept confidential except for the following circumstances:

  • You are hurting yourself or want to hurt yourself (self-harm, suicide ideation)

  • You are hurting others or want to hurt others (physical)

  • Somebody is hurting you (any form of abuse)
