The partners’ staff met in Bitonto, Italy, hosted by the coordinator Consorzio Social Lab, to agree on the working methods, tools to be used, and tasks to develop the actions planned in the project.
The project committee defined also the structure of the e-learning platform with interactive training courses on environmental sustainability topics that will be developed.
The study visit that took place in France from September 17 to 19 was an opportunity to discuss these modules but above all made it possible to present good practices from public policies or stakeholders in the Coutances region. Thus, following the various presentations, we were able to discuss mobility policies, citizen involvement in local decisions, citizen energies and play a game called "city fresco" which allows for dialogue around urban issues and to collectively identify the transitions to be carried out.
In January 2025, the Union of Parishes of Gondomar (S. Cosme), Valbom and Jovim hosted another international event as part of the project. During this visit, the European partners had the opportunity to learn about sustainability projects and practices implemented in the region, such as urban parks, walkways, cycle paths, urban gardens and an electronic equipment recovery centre.
The International Conference on the Urban HUB marks the final milestone of the Digithub project, showcasing the results of participatory processes carried out in each partner country to co-design local initiatives promoting sustainability and green mobility.
Through participatory design and incubation workshops, the Urban HUB laboratories engaged diverse stakeholders in collaborative decision-making, valuing local knowledge, skills, and resources. This approach demonstrated how community-driven change is more inclusive, democratic, and sustainable than externally imposed solutions.
Grounded in principles of empowerment, multidisciplinary collaboration, local capacity-building, and democratic participation, the Urban HUB strengthened participants’ abilities to facilitate group dynamics, manage complex change processes, and guide diverse actors toward shared goals.
By combining adult education with practical experimentation, the Urban HUB contributed to the development of critical thinking, specialized skills in sustainable mobility, and collective responses to ecological transition. The conference offers a space to reflect on lessons learned, exchange practices with other projects and partners, and inspire new collaborative models for building more sustainable and resilient urban communities.
