The FIRST STEPS page can be found among the options at the top of this page. This page has ideas, resources, and programming for when students first arrive. You will also find information that might be valuable to share with parents, general placement considerations, characteristics of EL/ML students and top tips for working with them.
The LAS Links Assessment is given every year to EL/ML students, and on the LAS LINKS page, you should find answers to almost any question you might have about this assessment. Additionally, you will find the materials you need when students who require screening register at your school.
The INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES page has ideas as well as specific resources to use now as you plan for speaking, listening, reading, and writing, as well as vocabulary instruction.
Next, the PROGRAMMING has several categories that you can navigate depending on what you are looking for. The Student Engagement Page will take you to a different website that we've designed to share with students. Students can access that website for independent activities, and we are continuing to develop this site. Additionally, there are pages with useful apps, translating resources, and materials that help understand programming for EL/ML learners.
The PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES page contains documents from the state of Connecticut that are useful and important to understand for planning and assessment requirements. Additionally, there are recommendations for webinars, further reading, and other professional development opportunities.
You may find resources in multiple places since some resources have more than one purpose. As we add to the website, we will include a what's new section, as well.
