Biography:
Keira Brown has taught general, choral, and instrumental music for 22 years in Illinois, Oregon, and Connecticut. 2020-21 will be her 13th year at Tariffville School.
She is professionally active, having served on the board of Kodaly Educators of Southern New England (KESNE) since 2008-2019, and finished her term as past-president. She is the recording secretary for the Organization of American Kodaly Educators' Eastern Division Board. Keira has presented professional development sessions locally and nationally, including the Organization of American Kodaly Educators' 2013, 2017, and 2019 national conference, Connecticut Music Educators Association state conference, Massachusetts Music Educators Association, the Virginia Organization of Kodaly Educators, and several local school districts.
She holds a Master of Music Education degree, Kodaly emphasis, from the Hartt School. She earned National Board Certification in Early/Middle Childhood Music in 2005 (renewed 2015), and Kodaly Teacher Certification in 2010 after studying Orff pedagogy with David Asplund, and Kodaly pedagogy with Dr. Susan Brumfield and Dr. John Feierabend.
A Newburgh Free Academy National Merit Scholar, she earned the Bachelor of Music Education in Oboe/K-12 Music Education from the Conservatory of Wheaton College (IL).
Keira and her family live in Tariffville, Connecticut.
