Marie-Christine Lapostolle-Rogers, also known as Christine Rogers, was born in Dijon, France. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a Master's Degree in Physiology from the University of Paris XI (Orsay). She completed a DEA in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University Paris VI (Pierre and Marie Curie).
In 1990, she moved to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Biomedical Research in Neuroscience, for which she earned the Best Dissertation Award in 1997 at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, then a part of CUNY. After several years of research in Neuroendocrinology for her thesis, she shifted her focus to Secondary Teaching and obtained a Graduate Certification in Teaching from PACE University.
Christine is certified to teach General Science, Chemistry, and Biology for grades 6-12 and has taught science for the past 21 years at a school in New York State. She currently teaches Living Environment, AP Biology, and the Science Research program, leading to the renowned Science Talent Search competition.
She has received several awards for her teaching, including the Teacher of Merit awards in 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2017 from the Society for Science & the Public. She has also delivered professional development sessions at ISEF 2017 in Los Angeles and the Research Teachers' Conference in 2017 in Washington DC .
Dr. Christine Rogers also participated in various initiatives to promote better education in the Lakota Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations in South Dakota.
After the tragic events of 9/11/2001, Dr. Christine Rogers turned to Buddhism as a way to cope with the personal distress caused by the event. She has been practicing Buddhism and various forms of meditation for the past 23 years.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she deepened her knowledge of Buddhism. She studied for two years to obtain the Socially Engaged Buddhism Program Certificate under the auspices of the Upaya Institute and Zen Center and the Prajna Mountain Buddhist Order, directed by Roshi Joan Halifax. After one more year of study, she received Jukai, the Lay Ordination Precepts.
Dr. Christine Rogers continued her Buddhist studies and became a Certified Meditation Teacher, working with Dharma Moon and the Tibet House in New York City. She recently completed several continuing education courses in clinical psychology and courses with updates on the latest neuroscience research.
She founded "Simply Sitting" in 2022 to bring Professional Development in Social and Emotional Learning to Teachers, Schools, and Businesses.
