Next Issue's theme: The World and the Worldly

What is our place in the world? How does one become "worldly"? What does faith mean to humanity? How do our human relationships shape the world? Consider these questions or any other subjects you can relate to the World and the Worldly to submit for our next issue of The Sill!

Submit to the Sill!

We're always looking submissions from anyone in the Bard Network! Check back every two weeks for the new theme for the next issue.

Our open calls for submissions roll out on a bi-weekly basis, updating the call with the theme for the next issue on the Monday following a publication.

We accept submissions in any form and medium on any topic relating to the issue’s theme, with three wider categories:

  • Long Essay: 500-1000 words, with limited media (maximum 3 photos or 2 minutes of a time-based piece)

  • Short Essay: 250-500 words, may be accompanied by a more substantive media component (3-8 photos, or a 5 minute max time-based piece)

  • Media Heavy: this is the category for a piece that is not text based. This may include photo essays, videos, music, podcasts, plastic arts, etc. Please accompany your media submission with a 50-250 blurb or statement about the piece.

Submissions are reviewed by the guest editors of each issue and may be edited before publication. You will be notified if your submission has been accepted for publication before the issue is released.

Please fill out the form with the link below and include a link to a google drive file, for formatting reasons, WE DO NOT ACCEPT PDF FILES. Include your name, category you’re submitting to, affiliation to the Bard network, year, and concentration (if applicable). You may also accompany your submission with a short bio that we will include in the issue.
