About the Sill

The Sill is an online publishing space operating as a part of the Simon’s Rock Annex that collects and shares content on a bi-weekly basis. Managed by the Simon’s Rock Studio Fellows, The Sill exists within the Simon’s Rock community yet outside the academic institution structure. Our publications are made possible by the fellows’ projects and writings, as well as with submissions from anyone sharing in the extended community of the Bard Network. The Sill aims to create the space and opportunity for students to share their thoughts, writings, creations, and any and all musings and access a wide transdisciplinary learning community.

About the Studio

The Studio is a transdisciplinary collective that invites students to learn, create, and participate in the production of knowledge and experience drawing on different fields and methods. We aim to create a safe space for sharing intellectual experience and material to further a common learning community. We operate outside of traditional institutional structures in order to explore modes of expression that can transcend disciplinary boundaries. Through this, we wish to give the opportunity for students to put to practice their intellectual ability and bring these concepts and objectives to fruition.

Meet our Fellows!

Asma Abbas

Faculty in Trans-disciplinary Studies

Asma Abbas is a transdisciplinary political theorist interested in the history of forms of political existence. She was born and raised in Karachi, which still furnishes most of the affective abundances that drive her vocation. Situated at the intersection of politics, ethics, and aesthetics, her work addresses how these domains and their demands shape the tasks of knowledge and subject production in a global postcolonial context and inform struggles for peace and justice.

Kaspar Wilder

Lever

Kaspar Wilder is a lifelong arranger of things. Through their many collections, passion for exploring and rediscovering abandoned or forgotten places, and love of storytelling, they have developed an academic path through anthropology/sociology, psychology, archive work, and of course the arts. In the Studio, they hope to be a voice for the creative organization and communication of ideas. In their free time they enjoy dancing, drawing, writing poetry, starting projects they know they'll never finish, and getting lost in the woods.
