Within two weeks of your deposit, you must meet with your Faculty Placement Advisor to discuss your interests, logistical considerations, and prior experience in order to secure a Generalist Year I placement.
Below are the steps you will need to take to begin your placement process.
Closely review the documents under the "Resume" section of the Securing a Practicum Placement: Year I webpage and then update your resume as it recommends. Your resume should be current. All experience counts, but if you have prior paid or volunteer experience in human services make sure you include it.You should also include your Simmons MSW program in the Education section.
Register for ELC/Tevera using the email sent directly to your Simmons email account from ELC/Tevera.
Use the Placement Process Instructions to complete the placement tasks in ELC/Tevera.
Please disregard Task #3 “Book An Appointment”. Instead, please email your Faculty Placement Advisor, directly, to schedule your placement meeting.
Special circumstance (if applicable): Employment-Based Placement Applications
If you are interested in exploring the feasibility of an Employment-Based Placement you will need to discuss this with during your initial advising session.
Prior to meeting with your Faculty Placement Advisor, review these important resources and materials:

In keeping with the Academic Integrity Policy and Professional and Ethical Standards outlined in the SSW Standards for Professional Practice, please email sswogpracticum@simmons.edu to attest that you have reviewed the three modules.
Be prepared to discuss any questions you have about the modules in your meeting with your Faculty Placement Advisor.
After your meeting, your FPA (Faculty Placement Advisor) will work with you to match you with an appropriate agency
If an agency is interested, you will be invited to interview
Be sure to inform your Faculty Placement Advisor ASAP of your interview date and time. Be sure to check your Simmons email account daily throughout this process!

Address questions with FPA prior to the agency interview.
Look at the agency’s website to learn more about what they do.
After agency interviews, you are required to update your FPA and await agency decision
If the agency offers you the internship you may accept. If an internship is not offered, your Faculty Placement Advisor contacts additional agencies.
Be sure to communicate with FPA as soon as you hear back from an agency.
After you accept an offer
Many agencies may require vaccination history and/or a CORI background check. This may be done through the agency or through Simmons so be sure to keep checking your inbox!
If your background check is to be done through Simmons, the cost is the responsibility of the student
