Your Practicum Liaison is a Simmons faculty member who will support you throughout the year after you have been placed.

Practicum Instructor
Your Practicum Instructor is employed by your placement agency and supervises you while you are in placement. You will meet with them weekly for supervision. The Practicum Instructor will work with you to complete your Learning Plan and Evaluations

Background Checks
Background Checks
Your placement may require you to pass a background check/CORI before you can begin. Depending on the agreement between Simmons and your placement agency, they may require Simmons to run the check, the agency may run it themselves, OR the agency may require a background check run by both Simmons and the agency.
For any background check/CORI run by Simmons, the cost will be covered by the student.
If your agency requires Simmons to run a report you will receive an email from the Practicum Department with more detailed instructions but if you are concerned or want to know if your agency requires a background check and have not heard from us, please email sswogpracticum@simmons.edu
Immunizations
Immunizations
Your placement may require Simmons to report your immunization history to their agency. If this is an agreed upon condition between Simmons and your agency, you will receive an email from the Practicum Department with the required immunization list that must be uploaded to the Simmons Health Portal.
Please do not send any medical records to the Practicum Department for your own medical privacy.
If you have circumstances that do not allow for this, please reach out ASAP to sswogpracticum@simmons.edu as an agreement with your agency will need to be made.
