Elections will take place in the November before the calendar year positions will be held. Information on how to vote will be emailed in the weeks leading up to the election both from the LISSA president and the Student Services Center.
However, there may be special elections at the end of each semester and advertising for open positions. If there are any questions about what positions are open or how to join student leadership don't hesitate to email lissapres@simmons.edu
Why become a student leader?
Student leadership is an excellent way to add practical experience in management, event planning, budgeting, and team work to your resume. You will become an integral part of the Simmons community and make friends along the way. So don’t hesitate!
Who can become a student leader?
Anyone! You do not need to be advanced in your program to run for student leadership positions. Students in their first or second semester are entirely welcomed! Additionally, regardless of whether you attend in person, hybrid, or completely online you can (and are encouraged) to run for student leadership positions.
How do I become a student leader?
Nominations for available positions will open in the end of the Fall term. LISSA and the Student Services Center will send out announcements for elections via email. You'll be able to submit a nomination for Student Leadership via the distributed form. For information on each student association, visit the Student Associations Directory.
When is the next election?
Elections will take place in November 2026. This page will be updated with the timeline closer to the elections with more information.
The SSAB is a group of 11 to 18 current SLIS students who serve a calendar year on the board. The board itself is dedicated to addressing issues related to the student experience that SLIS administration wants more information on as well as bringing up issues and potential solutions for administration consideration. So long as a current student meets eligibility they can serve as an SSAB member for one or more years.
The nomination period will be in November 2026, simultaneous to the student organization elections. More information on the SSAB and eligibility requirements can be found on the SSAB website. Timeline and nomination form will be included below during the nomination period.
The LISSA president is also the SSAB Chair, so any questions about SSAB, nominations, or issues that you'd like to raise can be directed towards lissapres@simmons.edu
