We recognize that the executive board of Alliance has historically failed to represent all members of our community. We would like to extend a warm invitation to queer, trans, and gender non-conforming students of color to run for these positions. Students of all class years are encouraged to run - even those who have not been involved with Alliance in the past. Together, we will make this a space where all voices are heard!
All executive board members are required to attend at least one Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshop or event during each semester. A list of qualifying events will be maintained as they are announced.
1. Student Government Representative: Attends biweekly House of Representatives meetings with the Student Government Association. Serves as the main point of communication between Alliance and other student organizations. First-year students are strongly encouraged to run for this role in order to gain familiarity with politics of the University.
2. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Liaison: Closely observes the needs of the community and reports back to the executive board. Facilitates regular dialogue regarding issues surrounding race, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic status, and other intersecting identities within the LGBTQIA+ community. Regularly attends DE&I training sessions and workshops offered by other organizations on campus. Maintains close contact with the Office of Organizational Culture, Inclusion, and Equity as well as the Center for Multicultural Student Affairs and other affinity organizations. This position is reserved for students of color OR students who have demonstrated prior training/involvement related to issues of DE&I.
