The Hillside Jazz Orchestra makes an astounding mark at our first appearance at the famous Westlake Jazz Festival, bringing home 1st place and 6 Outstanding Musician Awards! Congratulations to the student performers of the 2025 Hillside Jazz Orchestra for continuing to establish bigger and bigger milestones for the Hillside Instrumental Music Program!Â

2025 CALIFORNIA MUSIC EDUCATORS' ASSOCIATION (CMEA) bAND AND oRCHESTRA fESTIVAL
This year, our Concert Orchestra received the enormous honor of being invited to perform as 1 of 16 total musical ensembles from across California, 1 of 6 middle school ensembles, at the 2025 CMEA Band and Orchestra Festival. This was a yearlong process to prepare for, which required recordings to be submitted last year (2024) as part of an application process before being accepted.Â
Every ensemble that performed here had previously received a Unanimous Superior rating at a regional festival, thus creating invitational eligibility. We could not be more proud of our students for representing Hillside and Simi Valley in Orchestral Performance!Â
