Still looking for a platform where you can spark your insights in social sciences?

We aim to ignite passion for social sciences!

We look forward to sparks in economics, business, history, geography, political science, sociology, and linguistics (but don't limit to them)!

We value the use of contemporary, historical, and hands-on resources!

So we organize the Journal—a virtual platform at this difficult time—for high schoolers from different corners of the region to create and share!

• Junior or senior high school students (7th–12th graders)

• Citizenship or residence in the Asia Pacific region or APEC member economies (open to some countries in the Americas)

• Age below 20 by August 31, 2024

All authors should meet the 3 requirements above.

The criteria consist of (1) consistency to the theme, (2) perspective creativity, (3) complete narration, (4) contextual analysis, (5) formatting, and (6) readability. 

The Journal reserves the right to determine whether to accept a submission in light of the judging criteria.

The submissions for this year are divided into 3 stages:

(1) Research Proposal [Due on Sep. 30]

• For this year's submission, you must first register and submit your proposal for review. Submissions in both Chinese and English are accepted.

• The proposal should have a self-assigned title and provide a brief description of the research motivation, questions, research methods, and expected research contributions.

• Chinese proposals should be limited to 500-1,000 words, and English proposals should be limited to 250-500 words.

• The registration and proposal submission period is from now until September 30, 2024 (UTC+8).

(2) Selection and In-person Seminar [Selection Result Announcement: Oct. 16; Seminar: Nov. 02]

• Research proposals that are accepted and placed on the waiting list will proceed to the selection round. Selected participants must attend a physical seminar in Taipei, Taiwan (participants studying abroad or with special reasons may present online). They will engage in academic exchanges with other contributors and benefit from critique and written feedback to support the development of their subsequent work.

• The announcement of the research proposal selection will be made on October 16, 2024, and the seminar is scheduled for November 02, 2024. Selected participants must attend to qualify for the next stage of full paper submission and publication.

(3) Full Text [Due on Nov. 30]

• Those whose research proposals are selected must submit their full papers by November 30, 2024.

• Papers that meet academic standards and requirements will be published in the 2024 edition of the Asia Pacific Young Social Scientists Journal (AYSS Journal).
