Note: As of fall 2023 the state of Oregon switched to sponsoring Pre ACT tests for sophomores. SHS has continued to offer Pre SAT tests to juniors because it opens up scholarship opportunities. When it comes time to take the actual SAT or ACT, SHS generally hosts a session here in October, but students may also sign up on their own for a session in our region.
Note: The SAT, PSAT, and all AP classes are administered by The College Board. It is very important that you create a College Board Account and save your username and password in a safe place. You should have created an account your Sophomore year, after taking the PSAT. If you're not sure if you have an account, click HERE and select "forgot username" -- if you have an account, you'll receive an email. Be sure to check both your school and personal email. If you do not receive an email, presumably you do not have an existing account and may now create one.

COVID-19 Note: Test dates are filling up fast, you may have to look for an open test date/location outside of Salem. Remember, there is an October test dates at SHS only available to SHS students - you will sign up for that opportunity through the counseling office; it is not publicized online.

October is the one test date where you can take your test during the school day in the comfort of Silverton High. Note: the School Day test in October is only for SHS students and so it is not publicized with other public testing dates/sites. You will register for the SHS school day October test through the counseling office.
Generally, students who wish to take multiple attempts will take the test the spring of their Junior year or summer before their Senior year. Most commonly, these tests are done on a Saturday at either McKay High School or West Salem.
