Maps posted on the ILC trails are mounted so that when you face the map you are facing north. A large yellow arrow shows where you are on an enlarged portion of the map. A small Center trails map is in the corner and a dotted white line indicates the location of the enlarged portion.
The trails above the arrow are in front of you. The trails under the arrow are behind you. The trails to the left of the arrow are to your left. The trails to the right of the arrow are to your right.
At the bottom of the map are two pieces of information.
A 4-character code uniquely identifies the map. Expand Information on Trail Map Signs below for details on maps.
A 3-word code can be used with the what3words app to show your exact location, and can be used for rescue purposes.
A QR code in the map inset brings you to this informational web page.
An orange warning triangle on the map indicates a spot where the trail leaves the Center. You should consult the extended trail map to help you navigate any trails off the ILC.Â
There are also trail maps with a different format specifically for DORBA riders on the lower trails. If you are hiking the Center trails, you can ignore these other maps.
Note that the "No Public Access" signs on some lower trails are to keep DORBA riders from using the upper trails. ILC users can ignore these signs.
