This map includes biking and hiking trails beyond the ILC's border. The trails are part of the Big Cedar Wilderness Trails (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association - DORBA) biking trail system that includes many trails between the ILC and Mountain Creek Church. The trails are one way trails for bikes with Ranger being the main trail, and with many loops off of Ranger and then back to Ranger. If you are following the correct direction for bikers, there are minimal arrows and directional signs to help you stay on the trail. But if you are walking in any other direction, it is very easy to get lost. It's highly recommended that you use a phone app that shows you where you are on the trails.
This map provides some help and can be downloaded and used without an app, but it will not indicate your location on the map.
Interactive maps are available below that can be installed on phones and show your location on the map as you hike. These maps are offline so they do not require Internet connectivity.
TrailForks is another phone app that shows where you are on the DORBA trails. It does not work for the non-shared ILC trails. It works best with phones with Internet access.
You should only use the DORBA trails when they are open. They are closed on Mondays and Sunday mornings, and other days if the trails are too wet. To find out their condition, go to https://www.trailforks.com/region/big-cedar-wilderness-trails/

Avenza is an excellent Android and iOS app that will show your location on an offline georeferenced trail map as you hike, and also make use of your compass if you have one. You can use at least one offline map without charge. It does not require Internet access to use the map. Their website is https://www.avenza.com/.
Install the Avenza app from Google Play or the Apple App store.
In the app, click My Maps in the lower left corner.
Click the Red button on the lower right and choose "Download or import map".
In the upper-right corner click the QR code button.
Scan the QR code below to download this map.
After it opens, click the 3-dot button at the top right to open the menu and choose "Open with". Choose Avenza if it asks for the app, then choose Open. This will download the map and add it to your My Maps Library so it will be available offline.
To open the map in My Maps, click the "SIL Extended Area Trails" map.
The map will have a blue circle at your location on the map. If you do not see this, click the Green arrow and it should center the map on your location. As you move, the location should change on the map. If your map has a compass, when the green arrow is filled in, as you turn, the map will turn and a small arrow on the circle will point in the direction you will go when holding your phone normally. If you want the map to stay fixed instead of turning when you turn, click the green arrow and it will turn to an outline.
You may need to create a free Avenza user account in avenza.com to have the map display whenever you open the application.

Locus Map, Orux Maps, and other apps use this offline map format. Locus Map is primarily an Android app, but a limited IOS app is available, and their goal is to make it similar to the Android app. Once installed, it will show you where you are on the offline map. Locus Map offers numerous features in their free version. Their website is https://www.locusmap.app/.
Install the Locus Map app from Google Play or the Apple App store. You cannot install this interactive map directly in the program. Instead, you need to copy a directory to specific location in the device memory.
Click here to open or download an interactive map for Locus Map, etc. The downloaded map is a zip file. Unzip this file and copy the "SIL Extended Area Trails" directory to your your device in the Internal shared storage\Android\data\menion.android.locus\files\Locus\maps directory. This can be done using the file transfer mode from a computer, or if you have an adequate app that will let you unzip the file on your device and then move it to the desired location, you can use that approach. The location is hidden to some apps.
Start the Locus Map program.
Use the triple bar menu in the lower left to choose "Map Manager," then choose the OFFLINE tab.
Click "MAPS /storage/emulated/O/Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/maps" which will then show you the "SIL Extended Area Trails" map that you can click to open.
Once in the map, one tap on the center icon will move the cursor to your current location. If your device has a compass, a second click, or a double-click will center the map on your current location, and the map will then turn as you turn the phone, always showing you which direction you are facing. Click and hold goes into a third mode where your current location stays at the center of the screen..
