The data below is a mapping of the raw data onto an IPA transcription. The conversion uses consistent mapping of Arabic, Latin and Tifinagh letters onto IPA symbols, and no attempt is made to harmonise the data, or predict how particular letters are used to express Berber sounds, except for some decisions on the interpretation of ي and و as vowel or consonant. The aim is to provide data that is adequate for making judgements on whether pairs of words constitute shared apparent cognates.
To this end, schwa vowels are added to the data to make the word structure consistently CVCV... No claim is made that these IPA renderings represent the actual phonetics of the words.
