“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
I'm a Reading Specialist, ELA teacher, and Outdoor Educator. I hold a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in K-12 Reading as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies. I am a proud member of the Wolfpack and earned both of my degrees from North Carolina State University. This is my ninth year of classroom teaching. I taught for eight years in the North Carolina Public School system, two years in Johnston County, and six years at The Exploris School in downtown Raleigh, NC. Over the years, I've worked in HR, Office Management, and Business Development for our family-owned and operated industrial design firm. I also operated a small private tutoring company. I fell in love with the Florida Keys in 2014 on a dive trip with my husband, and our family finally moved here full-time in December of 2025. I am THRILLED to be teaching 3rd grade ELA as well as reading intervention at Sigsbee Charter School this year. When I'm not teaching, I love to be outside. You'll find me trail running, fishing, diving, traveling, reading, adventuring with my husband and two amazing kids (Danny and Eleanor), and probably baking sourdough bread.
I'm so happy you're here. It's going to be a great year!
