LASS

My students and I call this class "LASS"  for Language Arts & Social Studies. We are fortunate. In this class the learning of social studies content is combined with language arts lessons.  Students learn how the founding documents of the United States were developed and how these documents influence our lives today. They also discover that learning about American history is fun! Students are excited about the topics we cover. I choose stories from our Journeys reading series that fit our American history focus. We also use the Journeys grammar lessons which are supplemented with IXL for additional language arts practice. Fifth grade is an important grade, and we pack in the learning!
