 Estimados Estudiantes,

¡Bienvenidos a mi clase!  Me llamo Denise Ortiz y soy tu maestra este año escolar.  Enseño en dos idiomas, inglés y español, porque enseño una clase independiente.  Ustedes aprenderán todas las materias o asignaturas en ambos idiomas, español e inglés. Mi meta es ayudar a ustedes ser principiantes fuertes e independientes además de bilingües. Quiero que nos divirtamos mientras aprendemos.  

Primero, quisiera contarles un poco acerca de mi.  Nací en California.  California es un estado en la costa oeste de los Estados Unidos.  Me mudé a Long Island en Agosto de 2000. Tengo cinco hijos y cuatro nietos.  Vivo aquí con Rita, mi perra gigante y cariñosa.  He enseñado aquí en South Huntington durante 21 años.

Durante mi tiempo libre, me gusta pintar y restaurar muebles. También, me gusta tejer y cocinar comida mexicana. Mis juegos favoritas son Yahtzee y Solitaire.  Me encanta caminar y hacer yoga. Pero lo que más me gusta es pasar tiempo con mi familia porque familia es lo más importante.

Espero con ansias todas las actividades interesantes que haremos juntos en clase. Me siento muy feliz de tenerte en mi clase y conocerte mejor este año escolar.

Dear Students,

Welcome to my class! I am Denise Ortiz and I am your child's teacher this year.   I teach in two languages, English and Spanish, because I teach a stand alone class in the Dual Language Program. You will learn all subject areas in both Spanish and English.  My goal is to help you become strong, independent learners as well as bilingual. I also want us to have fun while we are learning.

First, I would like to tell a little about myself.  I was born in California.  California is a state on the west coast of the United States.  I moved to Long Island in August of 2000.  I have five children and four grandchildren. I live here with my giant, loving dog named Rita. I have taught her in South Huntington for 21 years.

In my free time, I like to paint and restore furniture.  I also like to crochet and cook Mexican food.  My favorite games to play are Yahtzee and Solitaire.  I love to go on walks and do yoga. But my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family because family is most important and above all else.

I look forward to all of the interesting activities that we will do together in class.  I am very happy to have you in my class and to get to know you better this school year.
