To demonstrate proficiency in English and any other language, students need to earn 3 points for English and 3 points for a Language Other than English. As a Junior or Senior, you may have already met most of the requirements!

You can apply to graduate with the NYS Seal of Biliteracy in any language that you can speak, understand, read and write. If we do not teach that language at school, there are ways you can demonstrate your language skills and accrue the three points you will need to qualify.
Yes, you can! You can apply for the Seal of Biliteracy for every language other than English that you can demonstrate proficiency in.
In order to qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, you need to demonstrate the ability to read, write, understand and speak a Language Other than English (LOTE). Your Seal project must include references to material you have read and used in that language. Read the Project Guidelines for more information.
Your final presentation and interview must be done in person. You CAN videotape a presentation as part of your portfolio, but you will be required to present your project orally and answer questions in person to obtain the NYSSB.
