Summer Camp

It is difficult to imagine that it is time to plan for the summer. If you are seeking camp for your child, below is a list of resources to assist you in the process. I encourage you to look at these as soon as possible. It is important to be aware that many of these camps require additional documention above and beyond the an application. Therefore, you may need extra time to gather that information. The Town of Huntington Website (http://www.huntingtonny.gov/parks) has valuable information for you to view. ***Project Play

Any student that obtains free/reduced lunch may be eligible for this camp. It runs five days per week and will be held at a local school. The camp provides transportation and two meals per day. The camp can only host 250-300 students. Therefore, it is important to be aware of important dates. Applications will be available online on February 9th.

****Family Service League offers a camp placement program for children of low-income families. Camp spots are typically 1 to 3 weeks. Contact Doreen Boehme (631) 470-6945.

Family Service League-The CAMP Program enables children from families living at or below the poverty level to spend time in a summer camp where education, sports and friendship will relieve tension and worries. Contact Program Director to inquire, 427- 3700 ext. 270.

Huntington Tri CYA- offers daily field trips for free or low cost fees. Call Rachelle Ayala to get more information or to sign up, 673-3303.

Holtsville Ecology Center- A wonderful, free place for your family to visit. Bring a picnic, or buy lunch, bring your bathing suit or just visit the animals.

Suffolk County Police Department Youth Academy-This is a free camp to any students ages 16 to 18 interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Two sessions in the summer for a period of 5 days.
