Be on Time - Lateness is unacceptable. Students are expected to be in their seats when the bell rings. Lateness will only be excused with a signed pass.
Google Classroom: Students should regularly check our class’s page for homework assignments, support materials, announcements, materials and any other important information. It is a great resource for students and parents!
Google Site: Students and their families should review the information on my Google Site for contact information, math class expectations, school information and much more! The link is on our Google Classroom page.
Student Email: students should check their email several times a day to stay informed and up to date. They should respond where needed and delete any unnecessary emails.
Homework - Homework will be given every night. The assignment will be written on the board and should be copied everyday in your Agenda Book. Assignments are due the next day unless otherwise stated. Homework is an integral part of learning – it allows me to know whether or not you have mastered a topic. In addition, you will receive a homework grade as part of your quarterly grade.
Absences - Students are required to make up any work they miss when absent. Please check our Google Classroom and/or ask a classmate for the missed work. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed!
Class Conduct - Students are expected to act in a respectful manner toward each other and their teacher in the classroom.
Upon entering the room, please be seated and take out your materials
Begin copying the day’s “Aim”, “Do Now” question, and “Homework”, and listen for instructions
Take out your HW to be checked and begin working on the “Do Now” questions, tasks, and/or notes
Follow all classroom rules and etiquette
Please be polite, friendly, and helpful to one another
Tests and Quizzes - Tests or Quizzes will be given often in class usually once a week (Test or Quiz). Students will be told at least 1 week in advance of any tests. Students who are absent for tests are expected to take them as soon as they return. Tests and Quizzes will not be postponed for students that miss class for music S.G.I.’s, field trips, discipline reasons, etc…
Grading Policy: your quarter grade accounts for test, quiz, and cumulative review grades, homework completion, and class participation. The grading policy is as follows: Tests and Quizzes: 60%, Cumulative Reviews: 25%, Homework/Classwork/Participation: 15%
Extra help: is available. Do not wait until you are completely lost to ask for help, no question is too small, no problem is too big!
Sixth grade is a very busy and exciting year! I hope that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are ready for the challenges that await you. Organization, enthusiasm, and hard work are essential elements to a successful school year. I have set forth a plan for you to be successful students. You should make sure to get all of your materials as soon as possible, and keep them organized throughout the school year. These materials must also be brought to class every day.
By following these organizational guidelines, you will have an extremely enjoyable and productive school year. I am looking forward to a great year!
