Physical Education Curriculum (Stimson Middle School)
This curriculum balances physical education with social-emotional growth, team collaboration, and an introduction to sports that students can continue throughout their lives. Each unit integrates physical skill development with cognitive learning about the games and encourages participation in both competitive and recreational activities. As a department, we try to give students a choice of activities that they can feel comfortable participating in, with a few exceptions (Volleyball, Fitness Testing) Activities may include but are not limited to the following:
September - October
Football, Tennis, Personal Fitness, Soccer, Recreational/Cooperative Games
November - December
Physical Fitness Testing, Mission Possible, Volleyball, Recreational/Cooperative Games
January - March
Volleyball Championships, Futsal, Recreational/ Cooperative games, Team Handball, Basketball, Personal Fitness
April - May
Kickball, Track and Field, Tennis, Pickleball, Badminton, Personal Fitness, Recreational/Cooperative Games, Wiffle Ball, Ultimate Frisbee
Develop physical fitness and motor skills.
Promote teamwork, leadership, and communication through sports.
Encourage participation in lifetime sports to instill a habit of regular physical activity.
Strengthen social skills and group dynamics through team-building exercises.
