11/8 New! - Aileen D'Addario's classes: deceased person project for

día de los muertos

Aileen D'Addario had her students come to the library to research a famous deceased person. They then designed a presentation using Canva, Sway, Screencastify or BookCreator. She then had the kids create a Google Doodle for that person and much like a true Google Doodle (check out what that is here), they linked their presentations to their Doodles. Check out some of the students' Doodles below. If you would like to know more about Google Doodles, click here. To see Doodle Archives, click here.

Thinglink (10/25 NEw)

Our librarian, Rosemarie Pray, jazzed up her library orientation with a Scavenger Hunt. Students had to go around the library and visit eight stations to answer her questions. Four of the eight stations involved a webtool Thinglink. Check out Rosemarie's site to see all four thinglinks and one of the them is highlighted on the left.

Parentsquare

I know it can take some time getting used to a new tool. These teachers have tried out ParentSquare and sent multiple messages out to their students and/or parents in the beginning of the year. Way to go!

Bookcreator

Jen Hebert, Deanna Morga and Stephen Saravia used bookcreator to have their students create books after researching the empires of Mesopotamia. The students then used their peers books to complete graphic organizers based on their peers' research. The kids enjoyed using the tool and they figured out how to use all of the features rather quickly.

Thinglink and hidden items in slides

Liz Kenney and Stephen Saravia have done an amazing job over the years of creating lessons and activities with Google Slides, but the last 2 years they have added hidden items to a slide, made bitmoji classrooms and added a new tool "thinglink" to the mix. Check out their material (use google slides in PRESENT mode to find the hidden items) and you will see the thinglink tool used inside the presentation. They have also provided the worksheet so you can see what goes along with the presentation.

An example from thinglink's library is to the left. Check it out to see how Coca-Cola Europe created an interactive image that communicates the valuable contributions partners made during the Covid-19 pandemic.

google sites

Liz Kenney is working with the alternative high school and in a conversation with her students, designed an amazing project using Google Sites. A student expressed that he wouldn't know how to create a site, and Liz created a template in Google Site that helped make the creation process a bit easier, but also allowed for her students' to create freely within the template. She then placed this template in our shufsd template gallery within Google Sites. Check out her template for the site by clicking the image to the right.
