Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. A Time for Kids: Dr. Seuss

Join A Time for Kids, Inc. for a virtual preschool family fun program! Activities include music, movement, fine and gross motor skill development, and storytelling! There will also be silly hat craft.

Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Skoblicki's Scientists: Otterly Fantastic Adventures

Come on an otter adventure as we discover interesting facts about these adorable mammals in this science program. February Monthly Community Service: Virtual Talent Show

Calling all musicians, dancers, writers, magicians or performers of any kind: earn community service this month by showcasing your talents at the library! Please submit a 5-10 minute video of your act to ehughes@shpl.info and receive one hour of community service. Teens can submit up to 3 videos. A major snow storm is headed our way and you only have one chance to get out of it alive! See if you have what it takes to survive by breaking out of our digital escape room.

Eyes of the World Grab & Go, Feb. 23-26

Make a special "eye" by learning how to weave yarn together. Registration begins Feb. 19 and supply kits are available for pickup Feb. 23-26.

Financial Literacy, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.

This interactive workshop will demonstrate the necessary skills for a successful financial future. Learn how to save money, be a wise consumer, and the importance of creating and using a budget. This is open to those in 6-12 grade living in Huntington Township. Registration now open.

Teens Live at Night: Among Us, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.

Figure out who the imposters are playing this fun online game with other teens! First, download Among Us, a free download on most phones or $5 on Steam. Two devices are recommended: one for Zoom and one to use as a game controller. Registration for Zoom log-in.

No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake Grab & Go, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m.

Wow your family and friends by creating this easy cheesecake! We'll supply most of the ingredients, you'll supply the rest. Supplies are limited so one per family, please. Register online and pick up your kit Feb. 24-27.

Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow

This virtual tour from The New-York Historical Society explores Black Americans’ struggle for equality under the law from 1865 through World War I. Learn about both Southern and Northern roles in this dark chapter of our history, as well as Black New Yorkers’ organizing and community-building in the face of systemic racism. Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Benefits of a Plant-Based Diet

A plant-based diet has been consistently proven over more than two decades to reduce all chronic diseases. It does not mean you can’t eat meat. It means your meals are derived mostly from plants: vegetables, whole grains, beans, fruit, seeds and nuts. Join Healthy Chef Kathryn live on Zoom as she discusses this powerfully nutritious diet, which greatly supports the immune system – very important in these times. Join SeniorNet live online to learn about some of the most popular types of photography (Portraiture, Candid, Landscape, Nature, etc.). They will also demonstrate smartphone best practices to improve your photography skills, and tips and techniques to enhance the quality of your photos. Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. Heart Health Month

February is Heart Health Month! Join us to learn strategies on making heart healthy food choices to help prevent/manage heart disease and high blood pressure. Learn how to read food labels to identify recommended amounts of fat and sodium per serving and how to consume more whole foods and choose less processed/convenience foods by incorporating healthier cooking methods to prepare foods at home and ordering out less. Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. A New Light on Tiffany

Explore the New-York Historical Society's collection of Tiffany lamps -- one of the world's largest and most encyclopedic -- and the intricate techniques that created them. View masterpieces of this elegant American art form and hear the personal stories of head glassmaking designer Clara Driscoll and her team of "Tiffany Girls," whose contributions were nearly forgotten by history. Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. Calligraphy: Meditation in Motion

Join local artist Helen Murdock-Prep live on Zoom as she demonstrates different styles of calligraphy. We will learn about Pointed Pen Calligraphy, which includes the scripted style known as Copperplate that was used to pen the Constitution and is seen in modern times on wedding invitations. She will also demonstrate using the following writing instruments: the oblique pen holder, the Tombow Fudenosuke and quill (feather!)
