See the worksheet below. Draw pictures to show how the city changed. Use the pictures to help you sequence the events from the story and re-tell the story.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar read aloud in Spanish and English

Activities for the story: Recall four foods that the caterpillar ate in the story. Talk about the days of the week using the concepts of before and after. ex. What day comes before Saturday or What day comes after Tuesday.

Practice telling the story to a parent/guardian/family member. See if you can remember all the things she swallowed by drawing pictures of them. Then cut the pictures out to help you retell the story.

Some things are easy to wait for and some things are hard to wait for. 

Think of a time when waiting was easy for you and a time when it was hard or more difficult.  Draw a picture to show what you waited for and how you felt once the waiting was over.

Articulation: Find an object with your sound and answer the questions using your best speech.

Fluency: Use your fluency enhancing strategies (e.g., slow rate, easy onset, deep breath) while answering the questions.

This is a full episode of Sid the Science Kid: The Big Sneeze.  It explores the question, What are germs? and the importance of washing your hands and how to wash your hands.  It is super kid friendly and fun to watch.  After watching the video, your child can practice washing their hands to the Alphabet song.  Practice makes perfect.  :)

This book is great to talk about perspective taking and acceptance. The parent birds keep thinking Junior is some kind of bird and can't understand why he can't fly but they never give up teaching him to try. This is also a great story to practice re-telling and to work on many chances to say /er/ words correctly. 

What different size dogs are in the story?

Name three things the dogs do.

Practice story re-tell.

Name 4 sets of opposite pairs you notice in the story.

What fun thing happened at the end of the story? 

Practice using a different verb tense such as past tense to say what the dogs did at the end of the story.

This book is a continuation of the first book Parts. It has phrases called idioms that don't always mean exactly what is stated. For example, lose your mind, jump out of my skin.....these can't actually happen but it is exaggerating how a person might feel in a situation.

See how many phrases you think are idioms and if you can explain the meaning from the situation presented.  Have fun and enjoy the story!
