Faculty Vision

Like the Stourport High School & VIth Form College, we believe in providing a high-quality curriculum in order to develop the character of our students and help them grow into well-rounded, confident and inquisitive young people that are prepared for life in the twenty-first century. The French and Spanish Faculty at Stourport High School will be a fun, engaging and vibrant place where students love to learn due to positive relationships between staff, students and parents.

We firmly believe that learning a language is a vital component to every child’s education and we have therefore designed a curriculum that will be accessible and engaging and will also foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. We believe that by creating a curriculum that is relevant and unique to the students of Stourport High School, we will ensure that all students flourish and will be ready to seize the many opportunities that life can offer them irrespective of their background or starting point.

Students of French and Spanish will be taught by passionate teachers who aim to provide a deep cultural knowledge to students. At the start of their learning journey, students will master the knowledge and skills to talk about areas of their lives that are immediately important to them such as family, friends, hobbies and school. Additionally, students will continue their learning journey by focussing on a range of topics associated with their local community before shifting the focus to the Francophone and Hispanic world. We will do this by challenging students and empowering them to confidently communicate thoughts and ideas on topics such as Environment, Social Problems, Festivals and Life online.

Stourport High School is a fully comprehensive state school. We believe that every student should have the best opportunities. We have designed an engaging and motivating curriculum that fully embodies our faculty vision. Throughout students’ time in our Faculty, we will encourage them to have the bravery to make direct contact with their peers abroad through our visits and classroom-based links with international schools. Our provision will therefore rival, if not better, that of the best fee-paying schools of the country.
