Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship Awards Program
Award: $500-$16,000
Deadline: December 16, 2022
Eligibility: Students must be a senior in high school and take the Labor History Exam. The Massachusetts AFL-CIO publishes a Labor History Study Guide, which covers a broad range of the history of working people organizing for justice in the United States. All Massachusetts high school seniors are eligible to compete for certain awards. Additionally, students with a family or personal union affiliation are eligible for awards given by their family’s specific local union or central labor council.
The Hanover Community Scholarship Program
Award: $1,000-$2,000
Deadline: January 17, 2023
Eligibility: Applicants must attend an accredited, diploma-granting, public secondary school located in Auburn, Boylston, Clinton, Dudley, Fitchburg, Grafton, Holden, Leicester, Leominster, Millbury, Shrewsbury, Southbridge, Spencer, Sturbridge, Webster, West Boylston or Worcester.
Applicants must plan to attend an accredited, degree-granting, two- or four-year college or university by the following fall.
Application intake and scholarship recipient selection is managed by Scholarship America, which is the nation's leading scholarship management administrator.
Financial need will not be considered.
Big Y Scholarship
Values: up to $250,000
Deadline: February 1, 2023
Available to high school seniors. Big Y customers and their dependents and Big Y employees and their dependents are eligible. Student's residence or school must be located in MA or CT (all employees eligible regardless of residence).
Henry David Thoreau Scholarship
Award: Each Henry David Thoreau Scholar receives a four-year scholarship of up to $26,000.
Deadline: Application opens on October 15, 2022 and due February 1, 2023.

reside in Massachusetts and be in your final year at a Massachusetts high school
plan to enroll in college the year that the Thoreau Scholarship is awarded

Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America- Grand Lodge of Massachusetts
Award: $1000
Deadline: February 12, 2023
The Scholarship Commission shall recommend to the State Council at least twenty principals and six alternates. One principal award each shall be made to a student majoring in the following subjects: art, music, and Italian. One principal award shall be granted to a properly qualified student planning to pursue their education in a recognized and accredited vocational or technical school, which may be a two-year degree or certificate granting institution. A maximum of four scholarship awards shall be granted to properly qualified students, who are residents of a state within the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, regardless of affiliation with the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.
Except for those scholarships to be awarded to properly qualified students regardless of affiliation with the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, applicants must be: (a) Current members in good standing of the Junior Division or of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts for at least two years at the time of application or (b) Children, Grandchildren, Nieces, or Nephews of current members in good standing of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts for at least two years at the time of application.
The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI)

About: TPI has partnered with foundations, companies, and other funders to create scholarship and college success programs that are transforming the lives of young people throughout the United States and beyond. While some of these programs provide conventional scholarships based on specific criteria, TPI has also pioneered the creation of innovative models designed to help students succeed in college and beyond.
The American-Lebanese Awareness Association, Inc. (ALAA) Scholarship

Eligibility:
Must be of Lebanese ancestry and reside in New England.
Must be a full-time student in an undergraduate college or will attend college in the subsequent year as an undergraduate.
Must not have already received two awards in his/her lifetime.
Must include with application an official, sealed transcript of grades through the most recently completed semester of high school or college.
Must include with application a wallet-sized photo of applicant only.

The George Coleman Scholarship
Deadline: March 1, 2023
Award: $2,000
Eligibility: Each year, the New England Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers awards scholarships to three high school graduates who will be enrolling in a NEACRAO member institution for the fall semester of that year. Each recipient of the scholarship is selected from candidates who are recommended by New England secondary school counselor.
Students will identify their school counselors for recommendations and we will reach out to them for the scholarship based on the following criteria:
1. Strong academic performance
2. Record of perseverance
3. Compelling personal story or unique achievement
The scholarship committee will balance demographic and geographic consideration and select from a variety of institution types.
The Rebekah Assembly of Massachusetts- Independent Order of Odd Fellows Memorial Scholarship
Award: $1000
Deadline: March 31, 2023
Eligibility: You must provide a statement of need of a scholarship (including family circumstances), personal letter of reference, 2 educational references, academic record, and personal statement explaining goals, financial status, and member of family.
Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA Fellowship Awards
Awards: Fellows will receive a $1,500 cash scholarship and the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience with a local company earning a minimum of $570 per week during a ten-week summer internship program.
Deadline: March 7, 2023
Eligibility: School/Counselor must submit only one student for consideration and submits all documents including application. Student must be willing to commit to a ten-week summer internship, have a demonstrated aptitude and scholarship in a STEM discipline, and have plans to pursue higher education in a STEM discipline. Additionally, since some students will be provided a temporary security clearance, we ask that they be US citizens and be 18 years old by May 31, 2023. Students are required to fill out the attached application.
GWCF's Scholarship Program
Award: Varies
Deadline: March 1, 2023
Eligibility: The majority of GWCF scholarships are awarded to current high school seniors who live in the 60 cities and towns that make up Worcester County. Applicants should intend to enroll full-time in an undergraduate two or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university.
Beyond the basic eligibility criteria above, each of our scholarship funds have additional unique criteria established by our donors. Using information from the scholarship application, Foundation staff match all applicants with the scholarships for which they are eligible. Rockland Trust Scholarship
Deadline: March 6, 2023 (or once 1,500 applications are fully submitted)
Award: Up to sixteen scholarships of $3,000 each will be granted. Awards are renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned.
Applicants must reside in one of the following counties: Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Essex, Middlesex, Nantucket, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, or Worcester Counties in Massachusetts; along with Providence County, Rhode Island. Applications will be considered based on financial need, academic performance, participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, and unusual personal or family circumstances.
NAAAP Boston Future Leaders Scholarship

Award: $2,500 and $5,000
Eligibility Criteria
Be a current senior high school student studying in the state of Massachusetts and will be enrolling in a four-year U.S. accredited college or university.
Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census.
Currently resides in the state of Massachusetts as a citizen, national, legal, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen
(e.g. DACAmented) of the United States.Must submit a formal scholarship application with a high school transcript, thoughtful essay responses, and letters of recommendation.

The Mass Live Scholarship

Award: $1000
Eligibility: The MassLive scholarship is offered through the Valley Press Club, which awards scholarships of $1,000 each to students planning careers in journalism in the Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut area.
Those applying to MassLive’s scholarship will not be considered without the following:

Central One Federal Credit Union Scholarship
Deadline: April 15, 2023
Award: One $4,000 and Five $1,000
The Annual Academic Scholarships will award six total scholarships- five, one-time awards of $1,000, and one-$4,000 award, payable at $1,000 per year. Graduating seniors from Algonquin Regional High School, Auburn High School, Milford High School, Shrewsbury High School, Westborough High School, and Worcester High Schools, are eligible to apply if they are entering a four-year accredited program and majoring in Business or Finance.
Students must be graduating in May 2023 and be entering a four-year accredited program in the fall of 2023 and majoring in Business and Finance.
Consideration will be based on academic merit, school activities/community involvement, and need.
All applications and requested documentation must be dropped off at any Central One branch location or emailed to member_support@centralfcu.com by April 15, 2023.
Junior League of Worcester
Deadline: April 21, 2023
Award: $3,000
In 2023, JLW will award one scholarship valued at $3000 to a Worcester area graduating senior, who identifies as female and has demonstrated outstanding voluntarism or community service during their high school careers. This scholarship reflects the belief of JLW members in the value of “doing” for the community and our mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve the Worcester Community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our scholarship program is our way of expressing our admiration for the young volunteers working in local organizations.
The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund
Award: $3,000-$17,000
Deadline: May 1, 2023 (Early response deadline is April 3, 2023)
Eligibility:
An entering or returning student at an accredited undergraduate institution in the United States and must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours).
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, BFA, BSN for example) for the first time. Students in one-year or two-year certificate or associate’s degree programs do not qualify. Students in five-plus year programs ending in a master’s degree or beyond may apply for the first four (undergraduate) years of their programs.
A United States citizen or noncitizen who has a current lawful presence in the United States and employment authorization.
A permanent resident of a New England state: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont.
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Be enrolled in a demanding course of study

Catherine E. Philbin Memorial Fund

Eligibility: Scholarship applicants will be selected based on the basis of their leadership responsibilities in community and school activities, including the number of activities, length of commitment, and quality of leadership; also, the applicants educational achievements, educational career goals, GPA, and financial need.
The Terry Shannon Memorial Scholarship
Award: $500
Deadline: May 13, 2023
Eligibility: Non-renewable award will be given to two male and two female District E scholar-athletes.THIS SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE AWARDED AFTER COMPLETION OF THE FIRST SEMESTER WITH A 2.0 G.P.A. OR BETTER, WITH PROOF OF ENROLLMENT IN THE SECOND SEMESTER. WHEN A STUDENT COMPLETES THE FIRST SEMESTER BELOW A 2.0 G.P.A., THE AWARD WILL BE HELD UNTIL THE END OF THE SECOND SEMESTER AND WILL BE PAYABLE AT THAT TIME WITH PROOF OF REQUIREMENTS BEING MET.
