Welcome! We are the Clinical Department at Floral Street School.
What does a School Adjustment Counselor / School Psychologist do?
Our job is largely focused on helping your child manage all things related to their social-emotional feelings and behaviors. Whether we are doing full class lessons on social-emotional regulation, meeting with children for lunch bunch groups or meeting individually to work on IEP goals and/or issues that pop up during the year; we are here to support both them and you navigate these early years in their lives.
While some children are referred to meet with us by their classroom teachers, we also always encourage parents to reach out directly if they are looking for help so that we can work on finding some help together.
Common reasons children may be referred to meet with the School Adjustment Counselor are:
Managing big feelings
Transitioning to school
Managing major life changes (divorce, grief, etc)
Learning coping skills
Social problem solving
