Each year, the 8th-grade students have the unique opportunity to take a trip to Washington, D.C. We call this the Capstone trip. This carefully planned journey serves as a culminating experience, combining academic enrichment with real-world exposure to the nation’s capital.
The trip to Washington, D.C., aligns with the school’s curriculum, allowing students to witness the principles and ideals upon which the United States was founded. By exploring historical landmarks such as the Capitol, Smithsonian museums, Mount Vernon, and Arlington National Cemetery, students gain a deeper understanding of American history, government, and culture. Beyond academics, the Capstone trip promotes personal growth and social development. The students gain independence, and it encourages camaraderie among students. The Capstone trip to Washington, D.C., is celebrating the end of middle school and meeting school standards as the students get ready to extend their educational journey forward and beyond.
