100-92 Excellent - Student has exceeded basic standards and demonstrated a mastery of the subject matter.
91-84 Good - Student has exceeded basic standards

Honor Roll
Honor Roll is a distinct manner of recognizing a student’s academic achievement. Honor Roll recognizes a student who achieves a significant measure of success within the academic program.
Marking Period Honor Roll
Honor Roll is calculated each marking period based on a student’s grades for that marking period. Two achievement levels are recognized:
HIGH HONOR ROLL: A student must achieve a weighted average of 95 or above.
HONOR ROLL: A student must achieve a weighted average of 90 to 94.99.
End of Year Honor Roll
End of year Honor Roll is calculated at the end of the school year and is based on a student’s final grades. Two levels of achievement are recognized:
HIGH HONOR ROLL: A student must achieve a weighted average of 95 or above.
HONOR ROLL: A student must achieve a weighted average of 90 to 94.99.
Shore Regional does not report rank. The academic environment at SRHS is very challenging. The majority of students meet the challenge by earning exemplary grades. Students' levels of achievement are not equitable or fully communicated by this single transcript statistic. Therefore, SRHS District policy precludes the reporting of rank-in-class.
Honor Points: All courses have an equal value of 1.00 for equal credit, except Honors, Advanced Placement, and IB courses. Honors and IB SL are weighted at 1.05. Advanced Placement and IB HL courses have a weighting factor of 1.10. (see the example calculation below)
GRADE X CREDITS X WEIGHTING = QUALITY POINTS
ENGLISH 3 HONORS 93 x 5.00 x 1.05 = 488.25
ALGEBRA 2 95 x 5.00 x 1.00 = 475
AP CHEMISTRY 92 x 10.00 x 1.1 = 1012.0
IB SPANISH 11 HL 87 x 5.00 x 1.1 = 478.5
PHYS ED. 90 x 3.75 x 1.00 = 337.5
HEALTH (1Q) 90 x 1.25 x 1.00 = 112.5
TOTALS: 30 2903.75
QUALITY POINTS / CREDITS = GPA
2903.75 / 30 = 96.79
CREDIT ASSIGNMENT
Courses that meet one full block every other day for the academic year are awarded 5.0 credits.
All courses that meet one full block every other day for a semester are awarded 2.5 credits.
Courses that meet one full block everyday including laboratory periods are awarded 10 credits.
ACADEMIC INFORMATION & PROCEDURES COURSE LEVELS
Initial course level placement is based on teacher recommendation, department supervisor recommendation and/or performance in prerequisite courses or placement exams. SRHS encourages students to challenge themselves and recognize that “academic rigor” is one of the key determinants to learning. Students are also encouraged to evaluate the demands of their entire schedule when considering courses. Students should contemplate the risk involved when choosing courses that build upon previous courses and recognize that prior performance impacts the ability to achieve at the same level in subsequent courses. In addition, please note that once a student has selected this course, his/her ability to make a subsequent level change is dependent upon seat availability. Please refer to the Course Changes section for level changes, course drop and/or withdrawal deadlines.
DROPPING/ADDING COURSES
Students should take the time to choose courses that are the best match for their interests. Take into account your interests, ability, and goals. Careful selection of courses will result in fewer course changes in the following school year.
Changing courses during the academic year can be very disruptive to a student’s schedule. Regular schedule changes will ONLY be permitted up to two weeks (10 school days) from the first day of the class. In order to accommodate a change in classes, there could be a disruption in other areas of a student’s schedule. Students will be responsible for making up any missed work in the new course.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT AND/OR INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE COURSE WITHDRAWAL
Ideally, students who would like to withdraw from either an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course should do so by August 15th. These courses include a large amount of summer work. If a student does not keep up with the required summer work they may be removed from the AP or IB course by August 15th. Students who feel that they do not want to continue in the AP or IB course must withdraw by August 15th. If the student withdraws from the course after the first marking period they will be given a WF (Withdraw Fail) on their transcript. Students may not add another class if they withdraw after the drop/add date.
COURSE LEVEL CHANGES - A change in course level may occur when a course does not match the student’s academic skills level. All level changes MUST be made in consultation with the counselor, teacher, administrator and parent(s). A signed form will be required. Course level change deadline: If the deadline falls on a weekend, school holiday or snow day the deadline will be moved to the next scheduled school day
The Deadline for Academic level change in a 10 credit course is October 1st.
The Deadline for Academic level change in a 5 credit course is November 1st.
There must be an open seat in the course level the student is changing into in order for the change to be made.
Maintaining acceptable class size will be a priority.
Limit one level change per subject, per year.
The student is responsible for missed work, and grades will follow the student when they make a level change.
COURSE WITHDRAWALS - A course withdrawal occurs when a student drops a course, after the (Course Changes – Drop a Course) deadline.
A student who elects to withdraw from a course after the course drop deadline will be removed from the class roster; however a record of WP or WF will be recorded and maintained on the student's permanent transcript.
If the deadline falls on a weekend, school holiday or snow day the deadline will be moved to the next scheduled school day. Please note that course withdrawals is not a Drop/Add. Course withdrawals is withdrawing from the course without adding another course.
Course Withdrawal (WF) Deadline:
2.5 Credit Courses: Semester 1 - November 15; Semester 2 - April 15
5.0 Credit Courses: Last day of Quarter 1
10 Credit Courses: Last day of Quarter 1
A student may not withdraw from a course once half of the course sessions have occurred.
Requests for an exception to this policy will be viewed and determined on an individual basis.
Proof of extenuating circumstances must be provided for requests to be considered.
Seniors requesting to withdraw from a course will be required to contact the colleges to which they have applied to verify that withdrawing from the course will not have an impact on admissions.
Students who withdraw from a course on or after the end of the first marking period will receive a WF (Withdraw Failing) on their transcript. The Withdraw Failing will have a value of 50 and remains on the student’s permanent record and will be included in the cumulative grade point average.
