Moderate sized evergreen tree with height is up to 12m with pendent branches and dark grey bark having horizontal lenticels 

The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of beads, oil and wood. An attractive tree with pendant branches, it is grown as an ornamental in gardens, 

Leaves 

Simple, alternatively arranged, shiny, dark green and distantly serrated. 

Bark 

Dark gray barks having horizontal lenticels. 

Flower 

Male Flower: Rounded in axillary clusters on the main or on short axillary branches. 

Female Flower: Solitary or 2-3 together, greenish, in an axle, pedicels 8-10 mm long. 

Fruit 

Spheroidal drupes with one seed.
