Parenting children through the teenage years brings about a number of challenges. We hope this resource page will be able to provide some assistance as you care for and support your child. These topics are complex and impact each person differently, therefore please reach out to the community of Shire Christian School as we work together to best support the young people under our care.
Shire Christian School has subscribed to the Happy Families School Membership.
The subscription provides access to four live webinars per year (one per term). We will provide you with a link to join the webinar in the lead up to the event via the school newsletter. The link will also be shared below on the Welfare Hub.
You can access the upcoming Justin Coulsen Carrots & Sticks Webinar on Wednesday 18th June at 7pm AEST using the following link: https://happyfamiliesfamilyeducation.ac-page.com/awj-carrots-hfs
1. Contact the PC Teacher with your concern for your child.
2. The PC Teacher will discuss the concern with the Year coordinator.
3. The Year Coordinator will follow up your concern and if needed will refer your child to the school counsellors. Upon this happening written consent from parents is required (Years Prep-9*).
4. Counsellors will arrange a meeting with the student.
*Students in years 10-12 are able to access school counselling without parental consent.
Please note - School Counselling is an interim service until external counselling/psychology can be arranged for the child.
We hope this resource list has been helpful for you.
Please also feel welcome to speak with us here at school if you feel like there is a particular strategy that may work well for your child.
