KEY INFORMATION
If you are in Year 10, make sure you know when your audition time will be during the day on June 24
Everyone begins with a singing audition
If you are interested in auditioning for a main role:
We begin with a singing audition
Ranges are noted on the character synopses
There are some details for the roles in the audition pack that are important to know and understand if you are auditioning for a specific character
Auditioning for ensemble:
Read through the information about the characters that are involved in the ensemble. This might be interesting to know and have in mind
AUDITION PREP:
Listen to the tracks that have been provided
Choose a part that fits with your range and voice
We will sing the parts together
We will then get groups of 4 and get each person to Solo (individually) sing a few lines
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Singing accuracy
Characterisation & confidence
Effort in preparation, ie. you have learnt the part and have prepared for your audition
If you can be off-script for your solo moment, that is beneficial
PROCESS:
Production staff will review the auditions and decide students are selected for Callbacks
Callbacks - Singing part and Scene will be provided to students who have been selected for a Callback Audition
Callback students will perform their scene with Sides performed by teachers. Students in Callbacks will perform their Solo song
DANCERS:
Specialised Dance Group - this will be a discrete group that will be used in specific scenes
Ensemble will have some dance moments, though less specialised requirements
Dancers will be required to lip-sync in some scenes
Auditions for dancers will be held at a later date and will be provided with choreography videos in preparation for Dance Auditions.
MICROPHONES:
Some key ensemble members will be identified as Key Vocalists to be mic'd to pick up the Ensemble. This will be decided closer to the production date
Smaller roles that are non-singer speaking roles will be mic'd, these mics will be shared amongst cast and decided later, closer to the production date.
QUESTIONS:
If you're going for a main, do you still audition with the Ensemble song? Do I learn the whole song?
